- Work close with the Practice Leader Statutory Planning and other Planning Officers of that team.
- Maintain and update manual and computerised reference material in relation to planning applications.
- Participate in identifying, responding to and rectifying problems and issues that arise in the workplace.
- Providing planning advice to internal and external parties.
- Providing professional planning services to tight deadlines in a pressured environment.
- The Planning Officer would be expected to address most routine issues encountered in day to day work. The officer would be expected to make decisions within the set limits of their tasks, to make suggestions to improve work practices and to participate in work and service improvements.
Skills & Experience
- Qualification to degree level in Planning and/or eligibility for graduate membership of PIA.
- Experience in a planning office and good knowledge of the Planning and Environment Act and planning processes.
- Good interpersonal skills including the ability to mediate, negotiate and resolve conflicts.
- Well developed communication skills, both written and verbal including the ability to prepare comprehensive reports and make recommendations.
